When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind when phoning for results of any investigations and remember that blood test results may not arrive all at the same time because some samples are sent away to specialist laboratories for analysis rather than being done at our local hospital.
Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results and can only read you the comments that the doctor has made on your records. It is your responsibility to check that the results of the test you have had done have been received and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
Please ring for test results after 2pm. This gives us time to process incoming results, the phone lines are also less busy in the afternoon.
If you have had an investigation carried out at the direction of a hospital clinic these results will ALWAYS be sent to the doctor who requested the test rather than your GP. Please contact your consultant's secretary for information about tests requested following a hospital appointment.
